1.  We aim to create an environment which is homely, where residents feel safe and secure, where their preferred lifestyles are respected, and they are supported to live a full and as active life as possible.  We will obtain detailed information about the resident prior to admission which will include their lifestyle choices and specific needs to enable a person-centred approach to care to be delivered.

2.  We aim to involve the residents and their relatives in the development of the home and seek to gain their opinions by various systems of quality assurance, where points arising are actioned and monitored.

3.  We aim to work in a manner to involve residents with drawing up and reviewing care plans ensuring these are reflective of the resident’s individual needs, preferred lifestyles, and are planned with achievable aims and goals.

4.  We aim to provide a staff team that is responsive to the care needs of residents and are skilled to deliver the care required to meet residents’ needs.  Training is made available to staff and they are encouraged to undertake NVQ training.  Robust recruitment processes are in place to assist in recruiting the most suitable applicants for posts.

5.  We aim to deliver a service which works in conjunction with other agencies/service providers involved in the care of the resident to maximise independence and as appropriate ensure a safe discharge home.

6.   We aim to provide a meaningful activities programme for all residents who wish to participate.  Residents are actively encouraged to have an input into planning the activities which will take place both within the home and the local community.  Through meaningful activity which encompasses resident’s preferences our objective is to enrich people’s lives by exposing them to new opportunities, promoting dignity and self respect, and giving a feeling of wellbeing.
